Unhappy with Trump
About 250 people, including families and young people, turned out on Saturday to express their displeasure with recent decisions and actions by the Trump administration.
They gathered on the sidewalk fronting the Kauai Community College, across the highway from the Puhi park open field where the Grove Farm Market was in full swing.
The event was organized by Kauai Indivisible, in solidarity with similar rallies are being held across the country on the same day.
Margie Merryman, the group leader of Kauai Indivisible, said the date coincided with the start of the American Revolutionary War about 250 years ago when the 13 colonies were fighting for independence from the British.
This was the second large scale rally held on Kauai following the “Hands Off” rally on April 5 that was attended by more than 2,000 people.
MaryLu Kelley said Kauai Indivisible will also be hosting another event on May 1 from 4 to 6 p.m. in front of the historic County Building.
“Sabra Kauka will be blessing the rally at 4 p.m,” Kelley said. “We want people to wear lei on that day. “Additionally, we want people to wear aloha wear.”
“Resist”. As in education. The truth is inconvenient when pushing a narrative. The president is helping save social security. However, don’t speak truths to the lonely few – they will resort to the only thing they have left – name calling.
