Melissa McFerrin Warrack said her son Finnigan cut his hair for his role as a Bikini Bottom newscaster in The SpongeBob Musical that opens on Sunday at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall, as the annual Hawaii Children’s Theatre food bank fundraiser. The curtain rises at 3 p.m. at the show where theater goers get special admission when accompanied by a contribution of “shelf-stable” food or cash.

Kudos to the Hanapepe Pop Warner Colts and the Hanapepe Youth Baseball League on coordinating the two-day Hanapepe’s Biggest Little Carnival (Alden Pablo said it’s the “Fifth-and-a-Half!”), where Waimea High School students Kristan Raposas and Nia Pablo (that’s Alden’s daughter) spearheaded a $15,000 contribution to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. The presentation was a result of the Breast Cancer Awareness Pink Run that was Nia’s senior project.
