About the only thing that did not get canceled or postponed because of the Thursday night storm was the Friday Night Art in Hanapepe whose organizers came on the radio especially to let people know the event was on.

Those crazy chickens are everywhere … Roger Lepley has written a book containing 21 chicken stories, “Kaua‘i Rooster Book,” and will be doing a book signing on Friday from 5 p.m. at Talk Story Bookstore, coinciding with the weekly Friday Night Art put on by the Hanapepe Economic Alliance.

Now that E Kanikapila Kakou finished its 2024 run at the Outrigger Kaua‘i Beach Resort, the Garden Island Arts Council is looking to other ventures beyond Kat Ho’s Indigo project, which was part of the Boroboro Boutique at the craft fair component of Grove Farm Market.

Congratulations to Kumu Hula Leina‘ala Pavao Jardin and Halau Ka Lei Mokihana O Leina‘ala for finishing the 2024 Hula competition in solid second place, and mahalo to the Island School boys volleyball for nailing the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation first round title on Friday night so we could watch the second night, or Group Hula ‘Auana, not distracted on Saturday night.

Didn’t you always want to get a Mustang when you were in high school, Cyndi Ayonon wanted to know as she showed off her new set of wheels (it’s electric!) at the Royal Sonesta Kaua‘i Resort parking lot where she parked (how did she score an end stall?) to represent the Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank (KIFB) that was the recipient of a food donation from Royal Sonesta.

Killarney Swim Club Coach Mike Meldrum said there are snow warnings for Thursday in Calgary, Canada. Meldrum, a swimmer in the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, has been bringing his KSC swimmers to Kaua‘i since 2008 to participate with Swim Kaua‘i Aquatics athletes at the SKA meets.

Kudos to the King’s Chapel for hosting “Hawai‘i’s Biggest Easter Egg Hunt” on Saturday at the North Vidinha soccer fields! Volunteers said there were 10,000 plastic candy-filled eggs prepared for the more than 1,000 youngsters who preregistered for the event where former Miss Kaua‘i Filipina (that scholarship pageant is right around the corner) Tiffany Sagucio was doing photo duty, saying the youth age group leaders were pretty cool.
