Kudos to the state Department of Health Family Health Services Program’s Dave Sharma and his essential DOH ‘ohana for keeping the tradition of pinwheel planting so the Girl Scouts could be safe at home. The blue pinwheels are symbolic of April as National Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month.

In the face of the confusion, turmoil and frustrations of COVID-19, Florovale Bandala (he said people have a hard time saying his name so he settles for “Vale” on his name plate) donned his gloves and spray bottle of disinfecting sanitizer to clean the touch points at the Lihu‘e Pizza Hut for customers waiting on their pickup orders (only one allowed in at a time to the counter) Saturday while he waited for his delivery assignment.

Warren Onishi (he’s one of the displaced Walmart McDonald’s regulars when it went to-go-only) used his smartphone to get a photo of a late-afternoon honeybee (with everyone complying with the governor’s and mayor’s stay-home mandate, bees and birds are about the only things to photograph) looking for the good stuff from the Mamo (yellow) Lehua at Kukui Grove Center Friday afternoon (mahalo, Kukui Grove Center security, for saying “we’re OK”).
Happy Camper for Friday, April 3, 2020
Kudos to Mayor Derek Kawakami (Monica and Haley did a great job with the mask), and the county crews did a great job directing the flood damages to the temporary stockpile at Vidinha Stadium in a collaborative effort with District Engineer Larry Dill and the state’s Department of Transportation to convert the vegetative debris into mulch.

Curfew? Marc Valentin of KQNG Radio Group said he doesn’t remember ever going through one of these. Social distancing? A lot of things are changing (almost instantaneously, too).
Happy Camper for Wednesday, March 18, 2020
Is it 100 people? Or 50 people? How about 10 people? Five people? No, some families are bigger than five people…too many social distancing things to worry about surrounding COVID-19.

Coach Natalie Mata should’ve had some of those good-luck succulents with the Menehune girls when they traveled to the state girls’ basketball tournament last month.

Yes, Kala‘ea Lake (he’s Laola Lake’s son who just moved back from Las Vegas), Liliana Estep and Taylor Garcia of Shell of a Life in the Anchor Cove Shopping Center would’ve loved to have face masks, but are thankful they are still able to get disinfecting hand wipes instead. They have the wipes close at hand while they work and are more mindful of hygiene in order to protect themselves from the COVID-19. Now, who’s got toilet paper?
