Nadine Riso of the Christian Riso Fine Art & Framing Gallery (yes, they’re open next to Sueoka Store!) was looking for the link to the virtual crowd (the Koloa Town boardwalk would’ve been teeming with people — especially on the day of the parade and ho‘olaule‘a! — during Koloa Plantation Days)…check out the virtual get-together, Saturday!

Alexa Jacobs had to catch a 6 a.m. flight (it’s a good thing we don’t have the Inter-Island quarantine, anymore) from Honolulu to be able and help at the packing for the Back to School Bash, Wednesday at the Kukui Grove Center, and Melissa McFerrin-Warrack was cruising the Costco aisles for snacks (was that lunch?), Tuesday night in preparation for the army of volunteers getting ready for the Saturday event.

The free Caring for Our Community meal and food giveaway was a perfect platform for the Kaua‘i County Council hopefuls (there’s at least 22 of them) to get to meet the community, or let the community meet them, since the event was not a virtual event and people could meet each other in person, like Yoshi L’Hote (Sandi Kato-Klutke said it’s “Yoshito”), who along with his ‘ohana is the face of the ‘Aina Ho‘okupu CSA (community-sourced agriculture) boxes (those iced watermelons looked especially appealing in the hot Waimea sun) that have been popular all over the island.

No big gatherings is the message officials encouraged for the Fourth of July as Hawai‘i records more new COVID-19 cases…great time of do those quiet neighborhood walks (Brian Atendido found a pueo, but had no camera, and what new safe beach did Sabrina Bodon find? John Feagans is still trying to get back from Japan — his new re-scheduled date is now in August!).
