Dickie Chang (everyone wants to know about your Chinese restaurant) served as the emcee on Saturday during the Kaua‘i Federal Credit Union annual membership meeting (that’s why the Fun and Kwazy rides and inflatable house were at the Kaua‘i Philippine Cultural Center, Bridget Orsatelli), where Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami joined the credit union’s family of staff, board members and volunteers in enjoying lunch and watching a lot of the sold-out audience’s members get prizes.

Artist Patrice Pendarvis (she’s already got two pieces juried for the current Kaua‘i Society of Artists Spring Show, which runs from March 4-31 at Kukui Grove Center) said she’ll donate 10 percent of the “Elements” art show pieces to the Zonta Club of Kaua‘i Foundation scholarships through the end of March.

Shirley Simbre-Medeiros (and where were all those musical kupuna?) was at the shopping center on Wayne’s last day. Happy retirement, Wayne!

Carlina Vea (she’s always at the Kekaha July Fourth celebration!) had a family reunion from all over to help celebrate the heritage of Waimea town!

Kudos and mahalo, Sarah Tochiki and the Kaua‘i Community College Orchestra, for the Sunday presentation of appropriate Presidents’ Day music at the Kukui Grove Center food court in Lihu‘e that was filled with lunchgoers, a few even succumbing to the strains of “The Chicken Dance” to get involved. Sarah said she’ll be back with the KCC Jazz Ensemble on the next presentation that has no date set.
