First responders and residents honored for heroics

LIHUE — The Fire Commission, during its regular meeting on Tuesday, joined the Kauai Fire Department, including the Ocean Safety Bureau, in recognizing two groups of individuals — heroic residents and first responders — for their respective involvement in two lifesaving rescues at two different sites.

Award winning art named at Kauai Society of Artists gallery

LIHUE — The collaborative efforts of artists Sally French and Samuel Schryver earned the non-cash Invitation Award from the Kauai Society of Artists Art Kauai 2024 that opened on Friday with an artists reception at the KSA gallery located at Kukui Grove Center.

Congratulations to the representatives of the seven recipient organizations that received a portion of the proceeds from the recent 40th anniversary Kapena concert during the latest edition of Downtown Lihue Night Market, where several vendors were able to strike camp from the Line Dance fundraiser for the Kauai Veterans Center and set up on Kress Street. The groups shared about $9,000.
