MANA — Brandon Fujishige was the big winner with two first place finishes on Saturday. when the Garden Isle Racing Association hosted drag races at Kaua‘i Raceway Park in Mana.

HANAPEPE — With just over six minutes showing on the game clock Kapa‘a Eagles’ 12 Under’s Randal Miyashiro scored on a 55-yard run to answer the Hanapepe Colts’ Chad Cabral’s 15-yard score that came with 6:55 showing at a Kaua‘i Pop Warner Football League game at Hanapepe Stadium on Sunday.

LIHU‘E — Kaua‘i High School girls volleyball player Mikayla Alonzo, designated as middle, and Naomi Ikimaka, a strong utility, had their share of solid, crowd-pleasing hammers in a Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation volleyball match at Kaua‘i High School on Tuesday evening.

Another big weekend is in store when Mary Lardizabal of the Kapa‘a Middle School ‘ukulele band and choir takes on the fall break movie night on Saturday (Aloha Dance Studio starts its three-weekend Freaky Fridays this Friday evening, too) at Kukui Grove Center, where Kaua‘i Partea will have hot dogs (still haven’t tried the Bubble Hot Dog, Jean Souza said is really good) available for purchase.

Kudos, Justin Kaeo Kinoshita (Fire Chief Michael Gibson said it’s all him!) and all those volunteers (even Sol Kanoho was there from the Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency) on hosting a great Fire Prevention Week launch that had a line waiting for the 9 a.m. start (did the Swim Kaua‘i Aquatics have a break in their swim meet so the swimmers could enjoy some of that educational fun?).
