Kudos and congratulations to the Rotary Club of Kaua‘i and all the point people involved in getting the annual (there was one year when the parade was canceled due to high winds) Lights on Rice holiday parade going on Friday … wouldn’t you say the parade was a nice announcement to the dissipation of the Kona low that dumped rain all over the island through the week?

Happy birthday, Melia Okura of Tsunami Taiko, who celebrated her special day by doing Chinese Lion (yes, we have Chinese Lions here on Kaua‘i!) duty at the Contractors Association of Kaua‘i 66th annual General Membership Meeting and Installation of Officers on Thursday at Puakea Golf Course, where Braden Kobayashi of Grove Farm was braving the evening rains to clear the drainage of cut grass that clogged the drain.

The Rotary Club of Kaua‘i Lights on Rice holiday parade is one of three events, all within walking distance of each other, that will fill the downtown Lihu‘e area with excitement throughout Friday. The Lights on Rice parade anchors the events, which start with the Kaua‘i Museum Christmas Craft Fair that returns following the COVID-19 pandemic.
