KIF paddling championships take place on Saturday

WAILUA — The Central Pacific Bank Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation paddling championships will take place at the Wailua River on Saturday to wrap up the KIF paddling season, which started in December with the long distance regattas at Nawiliwili Small Boat Harbor. The first races start at 9 a.m.

Sheraton Kaua‘i Coconut Beach lends a helping hand

WAIPOULI — There were no incentives for the employees of the Sheraton Kaua‘i Coconut Beach Resort except to give from the heart, said the resort’s Director of Human Resources Bryan Holladay on Wednesday when the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i team picked up the results of the resort’s Food Fund Drive that concluded on Jan. 19.

Council chair to host series of town halls

LIHU‘E — The Office of the County Clerk, Council Services Division announced on Monday that Kaua‘i County Council Chair Mel Rapozo will host a series of town halls throughout the island starting on Jan. 25.

Yikes, there are too many vendors so the Mu‘umu‘u Market with O‘ahu and Kaua‘i vendors will be available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kaua‘i Shores hotel where the Lava Lava Beach Club is, said Pam Chock of the Kaua‘i Historical Society (Kay Koike was picking up a new Tambi Larsen book, “100 Entertainments” for a friend who was waiting at the Division of Motor Vehicles) that still have tickets available for the Mu‘umu‘u Pa‘ina Luncheon on Jan. 28 at the Smith’s Tropical Paradise from noon.

Rotary Club of Kaua‘i feted

LIHU‘E — The Rotary Club of Kaua‘i, including its president Ryan Fussell and vice president Laurie Yoshida, was recently celebrated by the Kaua‘i County Council with a certificate “for continuously organizing the Lights on Rice Christmas Parade to welcome the holidays.”
