Beau and Jordan Hannafious of Rainbeau Jo’s had a lot of reason to be excited, Thursday — International Credit Union Day! Janice Bond (did she foot the bill for the Daylight Donuts?) said Rainbeau Jo’s is ranked No. 11 on Buzzfeed (they’re a social media site) and the only one from Hawaii to get a Yelp rating on that site.

Fast Company wins race, but comes up short in series

OZone fouled Fast Company, and Fast Company appeared to foul OZone during the 10th and final race of the Nawiliwili Yacht Club Gene Wells Memorial Series that unfolded under 12-to-17-knot winds and a share of obstacles hindering the five-mile, two-lap course layout.

With just one more outing scheduled for Thursday, the Kauai High boys bowling team mixed excitement into the pot by winning the fifth week of Kauai Interscholastic Federation bowling.

Congratulations to Myrvie Buster and her Garden Island Federal Credit Union ohana that hosted a garage sale benefiting the Kauai United Way (there’s still time to get involved with the Kauai United Way Walk-a-thon coming up Saturday, Oct. 26, ahead of the weekend celebrating Halloween!) a few days ahead of International Credit Union Day (Maren Rasay said GIFCU is baking stuffs for their members!) … and that pen works really good!

Joyce Nagata of the Kilauea Senior Center said her dad, Seichi Akagi, learned how to paint when he was 80 years old through the senior center. He did a variety of artwork before leaving us. Joyce put together some of those classic pieces in a unique Christmas tree that got some nibbles in the “auction” taking place at the Kilauea Senior Center table Saturday during the Kauai Senior Craft and Food Fair at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall in Lihue.
