Kapaa sweeps Saturday soccer

LIHUE — Kapaa High School soccer teams took all four of its matches to improve on its season, Saturday during the Kauai Interscholastic Federation soccer matches contested at the Vidinha Stadium.

Raider swimmers lead state qualifiers

PUHI — Kauai High School swimmers Kamaira Silva and Kai Mottley each picked up two state qualifying times, Saturday during the Kauai Interscholastic Federation qualifying swim meet hosted by Island School at the YMCA pool.

Menehune lead KIF regatta

NAWILIWILI — Waimea High School paddling teams took two of the three divisions, Saturday during the Kauai Interscholastic Federation paddling regatta that was touted as a make up race for a previously-canceled event at the Nawiliwili Harbor. The regatta was a varsity division only event.

For St. Theresa School seventh-grade student Keaupuni Miyake, Thursday was a “jamboree” topped with “graham,” at the Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School cafeteria.

Lenny Rapozo, one of the Kauai Interscholastic Federation basketball referees, could not help but notice 9-month-old Kalawaia Fagarang-Sunn (grandpa Neil Fagarang said Kalawaia’s grandma was the late pro surfer Rell Sunn!), who was securely bundled behind the officials’ table at the Wednesday night KIF girls basketball games. Lenny said he’s recruiting Kalawaia to help build the officials base (yes, they need help getting more officials!).
