Colapinto soars in CT, Coffin earns World Cup victory

You may not be too familiar with Griffin Colapinto. If that’s the case, don’t beat yourself up. You can’t be expected to keeptabs on every 19-year-old trying to make a name for themselves in the surf world. They certainly didn’t find any of those in Logan, Utah, and they now have just one more game to temporarily right the ship, next week’s home finale against BYU.

Ezekiel Lau is setting quite a precedent when it comes to late-season drama. From last season’s qualification bid that required some third-party results from Kanoa Igarashi at Pipeline, to this year’s jump from 105th place all the way up to ninth in just two Qualifying Series contests, Lau has put himself in position to surf a sophomore season on the Championship Tour.
