LIHUE — Lihue Bronco all star pitcher Kobe Viloria allowed just one run and gave up three hits to lead Lihue to an 11-1 win Wednesday.
The Lihue Youth Baseball Bronco all stars also chalked up 11 hits in its win over the West Kauai Bronco all stars during the Protect Our Nation’s Youth Bronco playoffs at the Lihue County Park.
During the outing, Viloria gave up his first hit, a double by Jesse Cardenas in the fourth inning, the West Kauai left fielder going on to score on a Lacin Montemayor play, shortstop to firstbase, for the first out of the inning.
Kaikela Aquico, the West Kauai shortstop, followed Cardenas with a single, but was taken out between third and home to end the threat.
West Kauai marked its final run in the sixth inning when Cardenas doubled with two away, but was left stranded.
Vilorai finished the outing with no walks allowed and striking out seven West Kauai batters.
Reyden Rull suffered the loss for West Kauai on the hill, going five innings before Elijah Aldrete finished. Rull gave up 10 hits, struck out three and had no walks.
Lihue jumped aboard the scoreboard in the opening inning, scoring three runs on four hits, and exploded in the fifth frame with five runs on four hits and two West Kauai errors.
Micah Efhan and Tyler Oshima singled, Efhan scoring on a two-Runs Batted In ground-rule-double from Skyler Sadora with one away. Oshima crossed on a Viloria play, shortstop to first. Sadora scored on a wild pitch.
A wild pitch ended the game on the 10-run ruling in the sixth inning when Christian Manera settled at second with a ground-rule double and scored on a wild pitch with no outs.
Manera opened the fifth inning with a single followed by Sadora singling. Viloria marked an RBI single, scoring Manera. Connor Garcia got aboard on a West Kauai miscue, scoring Sadora with no outs.
Taira Abreu broke everything open on a West Kauai miscue, settling at third base while scoring Viloria and Garcia. Abreu scored on an Efhan double, Efhan left stranded to end the inning.
Top hitters for Lihue included Efhan, who marked three hits, an RBI and scored once. Manera had two hits and scored twice, along with Sadora also getting two hits and scoring twice with an RBI.
Viloria finished with a hit, scored once and marked two RBI, Garcia doubled and scored once, and Ethan Gray, getting aboard after being hit by a pitch, scored in the second inning.
With the win, Lihue Youth Baseball all stars travel to the Hanapepe field Friday for the second game in the best-of-three playoffs, the winner advancing to the Big Island for the state tournament June 28 through July 2.
