WAILUA — Jamie Amimoto carded a 4-over par 76 to lock up the Chica Ishii Stroke Play Championship Sunday at the Wailua Golf Course.
Amimoto, playing in the Boys 15-18 division, finished the three rounds with a 232 (78-78-76), beating out Bryden Salvador (80-77-79-236) and Trevor Kua (78-79-80-237) by four strokes at the tournament presented by the Kauai Junior Golf Association over two weekends.
Kainalu Gandia, opening the competition with a 4-over par 76 last week, finished at 242 (76-83-83) followed by Keith Jose (88-93-95-276).
Michael Miller, Kenji Miyata, and Tyler Barton withdrew from the competition.
Punctuated by the Hawaii State Junior Golf Association 2013 Callaway Junior World Qualifier which finished play Friday at the Wailua Golf Course, Amimoto, Kua, Miyata were among the participants.
Amimoto (81-83-164) finished the tournament tied for 26th place with fellow Kauai native Keegan Loo (85-79-164) in the Boys 15-18 Flight.
Miyata, who withdrew from the final round of the Chica Ishii tournament, finished tied for fifth place with a 149 (74-75).
Kua took first in the Boys 13-14 Flight with a 147 (74-73).
Logan Gibson, playing in the same flight, finished tied for 16th place on a 165 (84-81). Logan returned to the Wailua Golf Course, Sunday to card an 87, a tie with Reece Valencia, to take the Boys 13-14 Flight at the Chica Ishii on a 255 (85-83-87).
Valencia finished the Ishii tournament on a 265 (91-87-87) followed by Aukai Kessler (102-104-109-315).
Calden Jose was the sole entrant in the Boys 10 and Under group, carding a three-round 284 (90-95-99) after Nikki Upson withdrew from the competition.
Samantha Nichols finished with a 330 (104-121-105) as the sole entrant in the Girls 13-14 flight after Naea Oda, carding a 158 (80-78) at the Callaway Junior World for a tie at 11th place, withdrew from the Ishii tournament following two rounds.
Christian Ganir topped the Boys 11-12 flight on a 288 (93-102-93) followed by Mason Gibson (107-109-108-265) and James Pratt (104-116-105-325).
Sam Pratt of the KJGA said the Chica Ishii Stroke Play Championship is one of two major tournaments hosted by the KJGA, the second tournament being the Mitchell Ota Match Play Championship from July 11 to July 14 at the Wailua Golf Course.
