Travis Gothier netted 24 points to lead the Nobodies to a 67-63 edge over Kauai Athletic Club Friday.
Playing in the Kauai Youth Basketball Association 18 and Over league, games were moved to the Bernice Hundley Gym due to the 16 and Under girls tournament at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
In the earlier game, Hanakila forfeited its match to the Westside Pride when insufficient players were on hand when time ran out.
The regularly-scheduled Kings and Tropang-L match was earlier mutually re-scheduled resulting in just one game being played.
The game was a doozy, with Kauai Athletic Club coming from behind to force overtime play in the final period.
In the physical defense put forth by KAC, the Nobodies went to the foul line 23 times, netting 13 points, while KAC had 12 chances at the charity stripe and netted nine marks.
But led by R.J. Pillos, KAC launched 10 bombs from outside the three-point arc, Pillos leading the charge with four. Cody Dolor netted three from the outside, Greg Ragsac added two and Spam Lindsey finished with one long bomb.
The Nobodies, getting 15 buckets to KAC’s nine, finished with eight from outside the three-point arc, Gothier leading the charge with six treys, including the pivotal overtime three-ball.
After leading for three quarters, the Nobodies were sent back to the drawing board when KAC forced the overtime by drawing to a 54-54 stalemate at the end of regulation.
Following Gothier, Michael Lindsey dropped 16 points for the Nobodies and Allen Calumag finished with eight points.
Pillos led KAC’s effort with 17 points followed by Spam Lindsey adding 14 points and Ragsac finishing with 10 points.
Friday games move to the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center when the Nobodies face the Kings in the 6 p.m. tipoff followed by Hanakila going up against KAC at 7 p.m. Tropang-L closes the night against Wreckage starting at 8 p.m.
