Stella Hew had four generations on hand to congratulate Kauai Police Dept. Lt. James Rodriguez Friday. Among the audience were Stella’s daughter, Jeanne Alonzo, granddaughter Jayli Rivera, and great granddaughter Jayne Alonzo.
Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr., Kauai Police Commission vice chair Charles Iona, and Kauai County Council Chair Jay Furfaro talked about the importance and sacrifices of family that contribute to the success of police officers.
Ann Matsuoka was another of the audience, the grandmother of Sgt. Ray Takekawa who stepped in for her son to pin the gold badge (ask Sgt. Bryson Ponce about the gold badge).
Congratulations to all! And kudos to the new recruits who were busy helping and extending KPD hospitality to the guests.
Kudos to Acting Assistant Chief Sherwin Kaleo Perez, Acting Captain Dan Miyamoto, and Lt. Rob Gausepohl on a great job organizing the event, and mahalo to Sarah Blane for turning the press release in a very timely manner.
