Happy retirement to Kauai High School athletic director Ross Shimabukuro who had Friday named in his honor by Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. who was dressed to honor all three public high schools.
Ross was joined by Charlene Koizumi and Leilani Suenaga at the mayor’s office where a whole bunch of Ross’s co-workers, coaches and students were on hand to wish him well, including William “Bill” Arakaki who talked about the iwa bird and his fishing pole which Ross gave him when he came to Kauai.
Lenny Rapozo said he would’ve done more if he had more time, and it was good to see Coach William Trugillo in the red-and-black. Clesson Lee is home for the summer and made his appearance … now, when is the Lihue Hongwanji bon dance? If it doesn’t conflict with the wedding he needs to go to, he might be serving up some plate lunches.
Sandi Kato-Klutke said she got to say aloha to Doug Sears Friday night where Doug’s co-workers and staff of the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa presented him with a replica of a Hawaiian sailing canoe. Best wishes, Doug! Thank you for everything you’ve done for the Kauai community.
