LIHUE — A two-year-old child was pronounced dead after being struck by a vehicle at a Kekaha residence Sunday night. The truck was not in operation when it struck the female child in the garage at the home around 7:15 p.m.,

LIHUE — A two-year-old child was pronounced dead after being struck by a vehicle at a Kekaha residence Sunday night.

The truck was not in operation when it struck the female child in the garage at the home around 7:15 p.m., according to a news release from Kauai Police Department.

Personnel from Kauai police, fire and medics responded to the scene but attempts to resuscitate the victim were unsuccessful. The child was taken to Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

An investigation continues.
