Aside from the delicious pastries, desserts and sandwiches offered at Buttery, there is a wide-range of beverages that will hit your sweet spot, make you smile and possibly get you hooked.
This week’s drink is the Pink Chocolat Chaud, a new beverage that has yet to appear on the menu.
After the co-owners of Buttery prepared this unique hot chocolate, I sat down and they explained the process of creating this delicious delight.
“We actually take white, Belgium chocolate first and tint it with strawberry fruit puree,” said Jade Brooks, co-owner of Buttery.
“Then we take frothed milk and pour it over the pink chocolate,” co-owner Smazana “Biba” Velickovic added.
After the frothed milk is poured over the pink chocolate, a layer of fresh whipped cream and shavings of pink chocolate are topped on top of it.
Velickovic and Brooks said the Pink Chocolat Chaud will make its first appearance on Saturday during the 1st Saturday in Old Kapaa town event. It will sell for $4.50.
Buttery also offers a wide variety of coffee and teas. Coffees include French press, latte, mocha, cappuccino, breve (espresso with steamed milk and half and half), black and tan (single shot espresso with dulce de leche served in a shot glass), and Turkish coffee (served in a traditional copper cup). As far as teas are concerned, Buttery uses Tay Tea.
“We love, love, love and adore our tea,” Brooks said. “The tea is hand blended and the gal who makes it is a third generation blender.”
“Everything is in small batches, so the consistency and the quality tastes fresh every time — from the the first scoop to the last,” Velickovic said.
Teas are $5 a cup or $7.50 for a full press. Tea blends include Raj Chai, Dream, Better than Sex, Nefertiti, Saba and Persian Rose. Each blend is fragrant and vibrant. Do yourself a favor and try it out for yourself — have it hot or cold.
