LIHUE — Reach is a three-day basketball clinic conducted by former Harlem Globetrotter Sherwin Durham and former Los Angeles Laker Rick Harville.
Durham played with the Globetrotters for seven years and finished his career by playing professionally in Winnipeg, Canada. Durham then went on to be an assistant coach of the women’s basketball team at his alma mater, Vanguard University. Durham then went on to be the head coach of Whittier Christian High School, where he won Coach of the Year honors in 2007 and 2008.
Reach has a two-fold purpose, according to a release. The first is to help and assist those participating to excel as individuals and as a team through teaching the fundamentals of basketball. The second is to instruct, encourage and minister life application skills.
The clinic is open to all boys and girls from 9 to 18 years old. The cost is $85, with limited scholarships available if needed. The cost includes a T-shirt, certification of completion, team photograph and lunch for all three days.
The clinic will take place at Kilauea Gym on July 25, 26 and 27.
