Have you ever drank so much that you were seeing double at the end of the night? Well, Lechelle Hendershott (coolest name ever for a bartender) at 9th Island Sports Bar & Grill will have you seeing triple from the get-go.
The “Triple Sun,” an original drink created by Hendershott, is a sweet, wicked mix of banana liquor and vodka with a few more ingredients.
Hendershott, originally from Pennsylvania, moved to Kauai three years ago. Before taking a bartender job at the recently opened 9th Island, she worked as an espresso barista for eight years, which probably explains why she never seems to stand still for more than a half second.
The move from coffee to alcohol, however, has not diminished the young bartender’s enthusiasm level at all.
“It’s a fun place,” said Hendershott, showing a cheek-to-cheek grin. “Come see us.”
9th Island Sports Bar & Grill is at Kauai Village Shopping Center near Safeway Supermarket. It’s open until 2 a.m., as long as there are people in there. They also have a vast menu and the kitchen is open until 10 p.m.
