KAPAA — Morning commuter traffic slowed through north Kapaa on Friday after a pick-up truck and an on-off-road motorcycle collided near the Kawaihau and Kuhio Highway junction.
According to county spokesperson Sarah Blane, the motorcyclist was heading north when it reportedly attempted to overtake a pickup truck on the right. The motorcycle struck the front of the truck, which caused the motorcyclist to fall off his bike.
According to witnesses, the rider seemed uninjured and left the scene on foot, said Blane. Officers were unable to locate the rider.
The driver of the truck did not report any injuries and remained on the scene.
The motorcycle, with damage to the seat and rear fender, was propped up on the makai side of the highway across from the Hauaala Road intersection. Traffic returned to normal around 8 a.m.
