Doors to the Matsuri Kauai will be open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall. There is no admission fee.
The public is invited to celebrate the festivities centering on the Japanese culture as guests from Suo Oshima, Japan, celebrating its 50th sister city relationship with Kauai, will be in attendance.
There will be karaoke singers, dancers, martial arts demonstrations, taiko drumming, hands-on origami, oshibana, mochi pounding demonstrations, tea ceremony, bonsai demonstrations and a flower circle.
A mini bon dance will highlight the day. People can view performances from a Japanese hula halau as well as participate in kimono kitsuke for adults and children.
Reservations are recommended for the kimono kitsuke.
