LIHUE — The volunteer attorneys that staff the Self Help Center at the 5th Circuit Courthouse in Lihue were honored recently for the work they do to help walk-in clients with information about their cases.
During a recent visit to Kauai, Hawaii Supreme Court Chief Justice Mark Recktenwald joined 5th Circuit Chief Judge Randal Valenciano and Judge Kathleen Watanabe in presenting certificates of appreciation to the volunteer attorneys who staff the court’s Self Help Center.
The attorneys honored included Laurel Loo, Jonathan Chun, Emiko Meyers, Margaret Sueoka, Ryan Jimenez and Laura Barzilai. Others volunteers include Elif Beall, Rosa Flores, Charles Foster, Glen Hale, Linda Lach, Kai Lawrence, Joe Moss, Curtis Shiramizu, Sara Silverman, Mauna Kea Trask, Linda Vass, and Mark Zenger.
The Self-Help Center can help residents with completing and understanding court documents and offer referral information regarding legal questions. It is open on Mondays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
