Eight of the nine games were settled by less than a 3-point difference Sunday during the Kauai Soccer Association’s title game showdown at the North Vidinha fields.
The one game that wasn’t a nail-biter, the Rush North defeated the Rush, 10-2 behind four goals from April Barnes and a hat trick by Tutearii Tuturu.
Other scorers for the Rush North included Andres Elzaurdia, Gabriel Franklin, and Kyle Leibow, each netting a goal toward the title of the Under 14 Boys. Ryan Yavinsky led the Rush scoring.
On the girls’ field, Natalie Devin scored two goals to lead the Rush GU14 to a 4-2 edge over Pohaku who got its two goals from Jaylana-Rose Ladera.Cambria Ort and Kehela Ventura added goals toward the Rush GU14 title win.
Nohili Ragragola got the sole goal to lead the Keahi to a 1-0 win over the Lihue Arsenal for the Under 8 division title.
Hailey Overmyer scored a goal with Kaia Davis Caberto to lead the Futsal Kauai to a 2-1 win over the Lihue Cougars for the Under 10 Girls title.But she didn’t stop there.
Overmyer joined Talia Washington, who scored two goals to lead the Futsal Kauai to a 3-1 win over the Lihue Cougars, for the title of the Under 12 girls.
Audrey Yukimura scored the sole goal for the Cougars.
Ekela Kai Mahuiki led the NS Nation FC to a 2-1 edge over Makani for the title of the Under 10 Boys.
Cody Manibog scored the Makani goal, preventing a shutout.
Kane Casillas and Conor Hunt took the lead for Team Onipaa Boys, who walked off with a 3-1 win over Team Onipaa for the Under 12 Boys division.
Carlos Lang scored the Team Onipaa BU11 goal.
The Rush North White BU16 settled the defensive slugfest for the title of the Under 16 Boys division, taking a 1-0 edge over the Rush North Blue.
Coming off a preseason matchup against the Hilo Vikings, goalkeeper Kawai Hamburg was perfect in saves, leading the Kauai Rush GU16 to a 1-0 win over the Kauai Sparks GU18 who played its final game Sunday, according to Ross Shimabukuro, former athletic director for Kauai High School whose niece does goaltending duties for the Kauai Sparks.
The win gives the Kauai Rush GU16 the title in the Under 18 Girls division after Madison Moore’s net broke the 0-0 defensive slugfest.
KSA officials now disperse to take care of the Kauai Interscholastic Federation soccer season which starts Dec. 7.
