Russell Haluapo doesn’t remember how long he’s been doing the annual Keiki Toy Ride for motorcycle enthusiasts.
Sunday, several hundred motorcycle riders and their friends braved a morning rain squall to bring toys for Kauai’s keiki who would otherwise not have any for the holidays.
Joining the effort, representatives of Kauai’s seed companies, Dow Agrosciences, BASF, DuPont Pioneer, Syngenta Seeds, and Global Agricultural drove in more than two pallets of toys.
“This is something the employees wanted to do,” said Laurie Yoshida of DuPont Pioneer. “The employees went out and bought the toys in addition to a little something the companies chipped in.”
The two truckloads greeted the motorcycles rumbling in from the different parts of the island.
“I thank Jesus for giving us the heart to help others,” Haluapo said. “’Merry Christmas!’ I say to you all; not ‘Happy Holiday, Merry Christmas!’ May the Love of Jesus Christ surround you and your ohana during this holiday season, and always.”
