Registration for a colorful event benefiting the American Cancer Society Relay for Life team Colors for Cancer is being accepted.
Heidi Herr, a senior at Kauai High School and a team captain for the school’s cross country and track teams, is undertaking this fun event as her senior project for the Class of 2014.
“My passion for exercise, physical health and prosperity has been my drive in creating this run which encourages the community to have fun while exercising — all in support of a good cause,” said Herr, a top finisher in KIF cross country and track and at state competition. “All of the proceeds from this color run will be donated to the American Cancer Society because I lost my grandfather to cancer when I was a child.”
The color run will take place Feb. 8, starting at 7:30 a.m. at the North Vidinha soccer fields.
Participants will run three miles, circling the North Vidinha soccer fields with a lot of anticipated excitement throughout the course.
Herr said participants from 5 years old and up are welcome in the fun run where they will be sprayed with a rainbow of colored powders.
Registration is limited to 800 participants, and event T-shirts are guaranteed for pre-registered individuals only. Race packet pickups will be 4 to 6 p.m. on Feb. 7 at Vidinha Stadium.
