The holder of the KIF runner-up becomes involved in the play-in game against a Big Island varsity girls squad for eligibility into the Hawaii High School Athletic Association, Division II girls state soccer tournament February 5 to 8 on Oahu.
Sam Henriques, Kapaa trainer doing relief duty at the Waimea High School basketball game Wednesday night, said she spoke with the Warrior girls who said they had to win over Kauai and Island had to drop to Waimea to advance Kapaa into the play-in game.

On the boys’ arena, Kauai High School broke the Kapaa boys’ undefeated string of victories with a 2-1 edge over the Warriors in the Vidinha Stadium nightcap.
Kaiea Iwasaki and Reggie McFadden picked up the goals for the victorious Red Raiders. Justin Franklin scored Kapaa’s only goal.
Tyler Yamamoto, Jaron Parongao, Isaiah Duldulao and Eric Costa found the net for the Waimea boys in its 4-0 win over Island School.
The varsity boys take the field after the girls game, starting at noon Saturday at Vidinha Stadium.
Hanapepe Stadium will be the site for Kauai High School, who will take on Waimea with the junior varsity girls starting at 10 a.m., followed by the JV boys at 11:45 a.m.
The varsity girls take the field at 1:30 p.m., followed by the varsity boys at 3:30 p.m.
The play-in game for the HHSAA Division II girls is tentatively scheduled to start after the varsity boys game between Kauai and Kapaa at Vidinha Stadium, Feb. 1.
