WAILUA — Firefighters responded to a call of a female hiker in distress Monday near Uluwehi Falls in Wailua.
A 44-year-old visitor from Nevada reportedly fell while walking along the trail and injured her ankle around 11 a.m., according to a county news release.
Rescuers hiked the trail to locate the victim and loaded her into a Stokes litter. The woman was then airlifted by Rescue 3 personnel aboard Air 1 to Wailua Homesteads Park.
Awaiting medics transported the victim to Wilcox Memorial Hospital. No status was reported by the county.
