The derby capped the three-day MLK Invitational Coach Pitch Baseball Tournament hosted by the Kalawai Youth Baseball over the Martin Luther King Jr. weekend.
Dale Keep, Kalawai Youth Baseball business manager, said 19 teams packed the Kalawai Park with four teams visiting from Oahu to play in the tournament for youngsters between 7 to 9 years old.
Waimea High School’s baseball team, with coaches Larry Ephan, Cliff Ephan, Troy Shigematsu, Ryan Lee and Charles Lopez provided the umpiring for the games as a volunteer effort, Keep said.
Fifty-two games were played over the three days with a home run derby on Sunday.
