Van Augusto
Van Allan Augusto, died on Dec. 22, 2013, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, Lihue, HI at the age of 62. He was born in Lihue on Dec. 5, 1951, and was a graduate of Kapaa High School. He was an Army Veteran and worked at Roberts Hawaii for over 25 years.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, Visitation from 9 to 10 a.m at the Lihue Lutheran Church. Service will begin at 10 to 10:30 a.m.

Loreto Anacleto Sr.
Loreto B. Anacleto Sr. of Koloa, Kauai passed away on Dec. 8, 2013, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 77. Born on May 27, 1936, in the Philippines he was a Retired Maintenance man.
Preceded in death by his daughters Teresa Anacleto and Luceda Anacleto. He is survived by his wife Segunda “Seggie” Borja Anacleto; Daughter: Lorna (Donny) Belong; 5 sons: JoJo (Marites) Anacleto; Jess Anacleto; Jeffrey (Rebecca) Anacleto; Keenan Anacleto; Kal Anacleto; 9 grandchildren; Ryan, Jonathan, Kathy, Krystal, Karen, Casey, Jacob, Malia and Makana; 3 great-grandchildren; TG, Zedakai, AJ; 2 sisters: Emerenciana Igarta; Natalia Mendoza; 2 brothers: Florencio Anacleto; Andres Anacleto, numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at St. Raphael’s Church in Koloa from 8 to 9:45 a.m. Where mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at St. Raphaels Church Cemetery in Koloa.

Barbara Cummings
Barbara Jean Cummings of Anahola passed away at home on Dec. 28, 2013, at the age of 76. She was born in Kealia, Kauai on July 1, 1937, and was a dedicated homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Cummings Sr.; parents, George and Nora Keawe; brother George Keawe; sister, Arleen Keawe; son-in-law, Vince Efhan; grandson, Byron Cummings.
She is survived by seven children, John Cummings Jr. of Honolulu, Alvin Cummings of Seattle, Washington, Holiday Efhan of Anahola, George (Leimomi) Cummings of Anahola, Billy (Tessie) Cummings of Wailua Houselots, Dennis (Lynn) Cummings of California, Michele (Ken) Nakamura of Kealia; sister, Georgie Lynn Lucidarme of Kapaa; 24 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Kapaa Assembly of God Church with viewing from 8 a.m. and services at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Dolores Ida
Dolores Nakako Ida, 89, of Hilo and formerly of Honolulu, Died on Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born on April 8, 1924, in Wahiawa, Kauai, and raised in Kahuku, Oahu. She was a homemaker, a member of Waiokeola Congregational Church, and recipient of a degree in Flower Arrangement from the Sogetsu School of Ikebana
She is survived by sons Dennis (Sherri) Ida of Hilo, Hawaii and Gerald (Aimee) Ida of Lawai, Kauai; 4 grandchildren, Evan, Bradley, Kelsi, and Donica; numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services were held at Punchbowl National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.

Big John Kauo
Big John Pakahea Kauo of Kapaa passed away at home on Dec. 29, 2013, at the age of 80. He was born in Anahola on Dec. 13, 1933, a musician and a martial arts instructor he retired as manager of Coco Palms Hotel after 33 years.
Preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Victorino Kauo; brother, Joseph “Butch” Kauo II and sister, Lorna “Sweetheart” Kauo.
He is survived by his daughter, Maile (Porfino) Kauo Vazquez Lagunes; sister, Lynette “Darling” Fernandez, Lenore “Sweetie” Javellana; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Kapaa with visitation from 8:30 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m.

Setsuko Kanekiyo
Setsuko “Honey” Kanekiyo of Hanapepe Heights died peacefully at home on Dec. 29, 2013, at the age of 88. Born on Feb. 10, 1925, in Waimea, Kauai, she was a store clerk with Kaumakani store.
She is survived by her husband Peter Kanekiyo; daughter Jan (Joel) Crews of San Jose, California; two grandchildren, Wyland and Chandler Crews; and sisters, Toshie Itamura of Honolulu, and Shirley Yamada of Kailua, Oahu.
Private Service. No koden please.

Carolyn Martell
Carolyn “Suki” R. Martell of Kekaha passed away on Jan. 1, 2014, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 72. Born on Dec. 9, 1941, in Waimea, Kauai, she was a retired Teacher with Kekaha School.
Preceded in death by her parents, Takeo and Yasuko Sugawara, and brother Wayne Sugawara.
She is survived by her husband Lyle G. Martell; son, Lance G. Martell of Waimea; daughter, Nathalie J. Martell of Kekaha; brother, Dr. Alan Sugawara of Corvallis, OR; sister, Lyndel Erdmann of Hanapepe; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Private Services were held on Sunday, Jan. 5.

Wayne Harada
Wayne “Opu” Takashi Harada, Sr. 65 Year old of Wainiha, Kauai. Passed away on Dec. 31, 2013, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. Born on Aug. 27, 1948, in Lihue, Kauai, he was a Retired Proprietor from Hanalei Museum snack shop.
Preceded in death by his parents Susumu and Harumi Harada, sister Aileen Harada.
He is survived by his wife Kekilani Harada; Son: Wayne (Kuuipo) Harada, Jr.; Daughter: Keaulani Harada; two sisters: Pauline Harada; Loraine Harada; brother: Stuart (Beth) Harada; 3 grandchildren, 3 hanai children: Nalani Aguano, Kapua Hermosura and Zion Harada; step-brothers and sisters: Togo (Ann) Hermosura, Bito Hermosura, Teresa Pacatang, Marsha Hermosura and Joan Keahi Nuhi, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday Jan. 15, 2014, at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 6 to 9 p.m. Celebration of life will be held on Sunday, Jan. 19, at Lumahai pasture at 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
