Kauai High School juniors Kate Machorek and Yasmine Ware each picked up three state Auto qualifying time standards at the Kauai Interscholastic Federation qualifying swim meet Saturday at Kapaa Pool.
Kapaa High School junior Bryson Baligad added to his list of consideration standards, adding the Boys 50-yard freestyle where he touched at 23.12 seconds.
He was part of the Kapaa High School Boys 200-yard medley relay team, which also picked up its first consideration time standard in the Boys 200-yard medley on a 2 minute, .18 second swim.
Joining Baligad, the No. 3 leg swimmer, are Nyle Rostchild, Micah Nobriga Ferris and Don Maddock make up the relay team.
Kauai High School also posted four consideration time standards with its relay teams.
Ware, Ava Wagner, Tambrina Fairbanks and Machorek make up the Kauai Girls 200-yard freestyle relay team which posted a 1:47.64 swim, bettering its seeded swim of 1:49.32 by nearly two seconds.
The same four girls make up the Kauai Girls 400-yard freestyle relay team who posted nearly a second improvement in its 4:01.79 swim, bettering its seeded swim of 4:02.03.
Hikari Oberman, Kainoa Matsumoto, Bradley Fujiuchi and Riley Young make up the Kauai Boys 200-yard freestyle relay team which touched the wall on a 1:43.13 swim, bettering its consideration standard seeded time of 1:43.21.
Oberman, Asa Henrickson, Andrew Beeksma and Young make up the Kauai Boys 400-yard freestyle relay team which bettered its consideration standard on a 3:50.07, more than a second better than its 3:51.77 seeded time.
Machorek, in her collection of three Auto time standards, added a new event, the Girls 100-yard freestyle where she stopped the clocks at 55.38.
In her other two Auto time standard swims, Machorek bettered her seeded time of 2:01.56 with a 1:59.00 swim in the 200-yard freestyle, and slashed nearly 10 seconds off her Girls 500-yard freestyle swim, touching the wall at 5:23.19, bettering her 5:32.51 seeded time.
Ware’s new addition came in the Girls 100-yard backstroke where she stopped the clock at 59.57.
Her two other Auto time standard swims came in the Girls 50-yard freestyle where she touched the wall on a 24.20 swim, bettering her 24.45 seeded swim.
Ware’s final auto time standard came in the Girls 100-yard breaststroke where she stopped the clock at 1:08.69, bettering her 1:09.04 seeded swim.
The swim teams from Kapaa, Kauai, Waimea high schools and Island School hit the water at the Kauai High School pool Saturday. Due to Scholastic Achievement Testing, the first events get underway starting at 2 p.m.
