LIHUE — National Tropical Botanical Garden and Kauai Community College will present “Botany Into Art” at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Campus Center cafeteria at KCC.
Botanical illustrator, artist and author Wendy Hollender will share insights into the beauty and importance of botanical art from an aesthetic and scientific perspective.
Using examples of her own illustrations and other beautiful images, Hollender will also include the subject of her third and most recent publication, “Foraging & Feasting: A Field Guide and Wild Food Cookbook.”
Hollender comes each year to NTBG to present extensive illustration workshops, using native and tropical plants in NTBG’s gardens to teach botanical drawing.
The “Plants for Our Planet” lecture series is one of many collaborations between the nonprofit NTBG and KCC.
