The Kapaa High School girls basketball team enters the Hawaiian Airlines Hawaii High School Athletic Association Girls Basketball State Champions, Division II, unseeded, the HHSAA announced Sunday.
The unseeded status puts the Warrior wahine on the floor Wednesday against St. Francis with a 5 p.m. tipoff at the Kaimuki High School gym in Honolulu.
A win in the opening game would pit Kapaa against No. 4 seed Molokai High School Thursday in the tournament quarterfinals.
Top seed for the Division II tournament went to the Honokaa Dragons of the Big Island Interscholastic Federation with Hawaii Baptist Academy getting the No. 2 seed.
The Farrington Governors earn the No. 3 seed followed by Molokai.
Other teams participating in the Division II tournament include Kalani, University High, Kohala, Castle, Kamehameha-Big Island and Le Jardin Academy.
The Division II championship game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Neal Blaisdell Center on Oahu following a pair of Division I quarterfinal games.
Lahainaluna High School of the Maui Interscholastic League earned the top seed for the Division I tournament which will play its games at assorted sites.
Lahaina will host the winner of the Maryknoll and Kailua high schools matchup Saturday at the Lahaina Civic Center on Maui.
Konawaena earns the No. 2 seed and will host the winner of the Mililani and Radford high school games Saturday at Kealakehe High School on the Big Island.
Punahou earned the No. 3 seed followed by Roosevelt securing the No. 4 seed. Both schools will host its quarterfinal games at the Neal Blaisdell Center on Oahu Saturday, Punahou tips off at 3 p.m. followed by Roosevelt at 5 p.m.
Other schools participating in the Division I tournament include Hilo, Leilehua, King Kekaulike and Moanalua high schools.
