Kung Hee Fat Choy!
Kathy Miyake (she would be wearing her Cheong Sam outfit) couldn’t make Chinese New Year lunch Friday because it was the last day for the Hanamaulu Cafe.
That did not stop the group (Bernie Sakoda said on Chinese New Year everyone needs to have a Chinese name) from enjoying jai (Dr. Katok and Joyce Chuan came for that) and other Chinese delicacies at Garden Island Barbecue & Chinese Restaurant.
Jonathan Chun came late because Judge Trudy Senda was sharing words with the new per diem judge and Wanda Kau-Shibata said Laurel Loo in her gung fu outfit was missing to cut the gau with her sword.
Jim Jung came over to offer his Chinese greeting during lunch with son Ian (which of The Green Pig hot dogs was he eating Thursday?).
Kudos to Sharon Lasker (she was just named to the Mayor’s Committee on the Status of Women!) and Eunice Burgonia and the Regency at Puakea for their Chinese New Year celebration with the Island School students.
