WAIMEA — Waimea’s Shania Rita hit a two-run triple in the sixth inning to push the Menehune to a 6-2 win over Kapaa Saturday at the Waimea Canyon Park.
Rita’s triple was the longest ball for the Menehune and her only hit in three plate appearances.
Alyssa Miyamoto and Bailey San Agustin-Nordmeier each doubled, their only hits. San Agustin-Nordmeier’s two-bagger drove in Sienna Santiago in the fifth frame. Santiago finished with two singles, the first coming from a bunt in the third inning.
Kapaa, with just two runs to show in the opening game, finished with eight hits, led by a double from Kalia Kaui in the opening frame.
K. Kaiminaaoau, driving home Alia Cummings, got to first on a walk in the first inning and finished with two singles, including the opening frame RBI. Tyra Alao, left fielder, also finished with a pair of singles. K. Gorospe-Keliipuleole finished a perfect three-for-three in the batter’s box.
Kaui scored the Warriors’ second run in the fifth inning, getting first on an error and scoring on another error.
The two teams tied 12-12 in the second game.
Facing an 11-3 deficit following four innings, San Agustine-Nordmeier whacked a three-run double in the sixth inning to power six runs on two hits as Waimea took a 12-11 lead. Jacelyn Sabala-Rapan completed the hitting, pushing a run home with two outs.
Kapaa answered in the seventh when a Kaiminaauao single drove Kaui home for the 12-12 tie.
