George Bettencourt
George Allen Bettencourt died March 20, 2014, in Waipahu, at the age of 96. Born March 30, 1917 in Kapaa, he was a retired Supervisor for the Lihue Sugar Plantation.
Preceded in death by his wife, Rosalie Ferreira Bettencourt.
He is survived by his daughters, Julie (Thomas) Bettencourt Dick of Centennial, Colorado, Carol (Raymond) Bettencourt Gibo of Mililani, Oahu, Mary Ann (Kenzie) Bettencourt Griffin of Morrison, Colorado, Donna (Kevin) Bettencourt O’Connor of Cave Creek Arizona; brothers, Harold (Betty) Bettencourt, William (Gloria) Bettencourt; sisters, Carrie Vilela, Margie (Enoch) Brown, 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, March 31, 2014, at the Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Samuel Ramos
Samuel Martinez Ramos of Lihue passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on March 11, 2014, at the age of 61. He was born in Ilocos Sur, Philippines on May 24, 1952. He retired from Lihue Sugar Plantation as a Heavy Equipment Operator and was employed by Smith’s Tropical Paradise as Maintenance Personal and Landscaper.
Preceded in death by his daughters, Michelle and Leilani Ramos; parents, Primitivo and Maria Ramos.
He is survived by his wife, Reynalda “Renee” Ramos; son, Samuel “Jun” (Kanani) Ramos Jr.; four grandchildren, Alyssa Lardizabal, Xandra Ramos-Masumoto, Alexis Ramos, Pua’ala Akui-Ramos;four brothers, Reynaldo (Marjorie) Ramos, German (Mila) Ramos, Crescencio “Cres” (Becky) Ramos, Jerry (Emily) Ramos; one sister, Gladdy (Angel) Palaroan; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A wake service will be held on Friday, March 28, 2014, at Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Lihue Cemetery.

Rosendo Pasion
Rosendo Sagucio Pasion of Puhi passed away at Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital on March 15, 2014, at the age of 91.
He was born in Lanao Bangui, llocos Norte, Philippines on July 22, 1922. He retired as a laborer with McBryde Sugar Plantation.
Preceded in death by his wife, Catalina; and son, Carilto Pasion Sr.
He is survived by three sons, Rudy (Letty) Pasion of Kekaha, Alfonso (Pros) Pasion of Kekaha, Larry (Welly) Pasion of Santa Ana California; four daughters, Ofelia (Tante) Felipe of Las Vegas, Nevada, Ester Tanimoto (Ron Macabeo) of Puhi, Adi (Paul) Souza of Kapaa, and Lettty (Mark) Hanks of Erie, Colorado; 20 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai. Viewing will be 9:00am-10:00am and services at 10:00am.
Burial will follow at the Kauai Memorial Gardens in Lihue.

Wayne Lopez
Wayne Marcelino Lopez of Kalaheo passed away at home on March 23, 2014, at the age of 63. He was born in Waimea, Kauai, Hawaii on April 6, 1950, and retired from the State of Hawaii, Harbors Division as a maintenance worker.
Preceded in death by his father, Raymond Lopez; sister, Karen Lopez Suarez; paternal grandparents, Marcelino and Rose Alvarez Lopez; maternal grandparents, Jupina Lopez and Frank Rapoza.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Lopez; mother, Virginia Lopez; sisters, Lucille (Mark) Lopez, Vicky Soares; niece, Shyla (Isaac) Moon; pet dog, Max; friend, Richard Waltjen and many other Ohana members and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Holy Cross Church with visitation from 9:00 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m.

Carol Fujimoto
Carol Tsutako Fujimoto of Lihue passed away at Garden Isle Health Care on March 20, 2014, at the age of 85. She was born in Anahola, Kauai on December 25, 1928 and retired as a telephone operator with Hawaiian Telephone Company.
Preceded in death by her son, Alan Fujimoto and son-in-law, Ronald Kawamura.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert Fujimoto of Lihue; sons, Wayne (Hazel) Fujimoto of Eleele, Chad Fujimoto of Honolulu; daughters, Judith Kawamura and Donna (Kent) Mitani both of Mililani; 6 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Lihue Christian Church with visitation from 9:30 a.m. and services celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Family suggests casual attire and graciously declines flowers.

Moises Trinidad Bagain of Kekaha, Kauai, Hawaii, passed away on March 19, 2014 at the age of 92. He was born on October 11, 1921 in Bangui Ilocos Norte, Philippines. He was a laborer at Kekaha Sugar Company.
Preceded in death by his son, Robert Bagain.
He is survived by his wife, Rufina Adriano, sons, Samuel (Clarina) Bagain; Rudy (Dawn) Bagain, Roly Bagain; daughters, Leticia (Rudy) Pasion; Eden (Sadiri) Mabini; sister, Encarnacion (Elpedio) Mabini; 11 grandchildren and 27 great gradchildren, 1 great great grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews.

Carl O. White of Wailua Homesteads, Kauai, Hawaii, passed away on March 20, 2014 at the age of 93. He was born on April 30, 1921, in Springfield, Illinois. He was a dairy man and pilot.
Preceded in death by his wife, Ivy Uluwehi White and daughter, Carlene Leilani Ornellas.
He is survived by his son, Vernon “Kimo” White, Lihue, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Services will be private

Mitsuyoshi Sano of Lihue, Kauai passed away on January 24, 2014 at Mahelona Hospital at the age of 101. Born on April 20, 1912, in Lihue, he was an Electrician with Kauai Sugar Storage.
He is survived by his son Wendell Sano of Honolulu, daughter Patrice Kiyono of Lihue, sister Aiko Kobayashi of Honolulu, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Elaine Lutao Kekahu of Lawai, Kauai, Hawaii, passed away on March 23, 2014 at the age of 71. She was born on March 9, 1943, in Waimea, Kauai. She was a housekeeper with Diamond Resort.
She is survived by her daughter, Ruby Kekahu, Koloa; son, John Kekahu, Poipu and 2 grandchildren.

Julia Sueoka
Julia Smith Chandler Sueoka of Kaneohe, formerly of Waimea, passed away on March 12, 2014 at the age of 97.
Born on July 24, 1916 in Waimea, Kauai, Hawaii. She was a retired tax clerk for the State of Hawaii’s Department of Taxation in Lihue, Kauai.
She is survived by her sisters, Alexandrine Kalama Smith and Lydia Halia Smith; Sons: William Ainsley Chandler, Jr. and Samuel Smitty Chandler; Eight Grandchildren, 12 Great-Grandchildren, 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren.
