Everyone is encouraged to run, jog, or walk with law enforcement personnel during the annual First Hawaiian Bank Troy Barboza Law Enforcement Torch Run on April 12.
The torch run marks the start of the Special Olympics Kauai Track and Field Meet at Vidinha Stadium where law enforcement personnel and Troy Barboza runners bring in the Special Olympics torch to signal the start of the track and field events.
It starts at 7 a.m. and follows a course which will take them past the Kauai Police Department station, south along Kapule Highway, then turn right at the old KPD gym and into the stadium for a victory lap.
Runners can cool down by watching the opening ceremonies and the track and field games.
Registration forms are available through any branch of First Hawaiian Bank, or by contacting KPD Sgt. Rod Green, this year’s leg leader. Entrance fee is $30 and includes a commemorative T-shirt.
