The Kauai Humane Society is investigating reports that several chickens were shot, at least one killed, by blowdarts.
KHS executive director Penny Cistaro said officers were returning to Kapaa Thursday to continue to look into reports that several chickens in the town were walking around with darts in them.
A few weeks ago, officers removed a dart from a chicken’s beak in Wailua. Then last week, someone reported chickens were being shot with four-inch darts in Kapaa and pictures were sent to news stations. One of the chickens was killed.
Chickens are not protected on Kauai.
There are no suspects.
