It was more than just a “good” day for Jerry Good of Taylorsville, Utah. On a gorgeous, sunny April 5, it was a “great” day for Jerry as he recorded the first hole in one on The Prince Courses’ third hole.
It was the 70 year old Good’s first ever ace after 35 plus years of playing golf. The jubilant right hander achieved golf’s greatest accomplishment while wielding a Callaway 9 Iron and watching in disbelief as the Titleist ProVI X took one bounce and disappeared into the cup from 107 yards away. Jerry’s wife Linda, who witnessed the feat along with son Shawn, actually called the shot.
“I told him, well, here comes your first hole in one,” she said as the ball arced toward the flag that was located in the center of the green. “And sure enough, it took one bounce and went right into the hole.”
When asked what their immediate reaction was, she beamed, “Oh, we started jumping around and slapping high fives! It was really exciting!”
Good happily gushed afterward that “what a great and beautiful golf course to finally achieve this goal! Not only that”, he continued, “but I recently beat cancer so this is an even greater day!”
The celebration continued at 19th Hole as per tradition.
