KALAHEO — Lilya Cummings brought the crowd to life Monday night at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Facing an 8-2 deficit at the half, Cummings pulled the Eastside Girls back into the fray with a trio of bombs from outside the three-point arc, each trey triggering a roar from the audience.
Despite the crowd-pleasing performance, the Team Central girls answered when Jasmyne Ballesteros notched 12 of her game-total 16 points in the second half to lead the Extreme Termite team to a 21-15 final.
Following Ballesteros, Amalya Sales added three points and Bailey Pereirra finished with a pair toward the victory.
Cummings, in addition to dropping the three treys in the second half, marked the only Eastside basket in the first half for a total of 11 points. Her efforts were bolstered by pairs from Kiahi Pia Salvador and Alexie Ann Yam.
Kaye Serapio finished with 10 points and Braelyn Cayaban added eight points to lead the Kaulupono girls to a 33-4 win over the Westside Girls in the second of three matches. Kierstan Gummerus added six points and pairs from Hazel Serapio, Alysha Palacio, Sofia Colagreco and Jordan Simao combined with a bucket from Kayleh Santos in the win.
Facing a 17-0 deficit at the half, Westside opened the scorebooks in the second half when Deyshia Kenney ignited the crowd with her pair of buckets.
Boys
Mike Navarro launched a pair of second-half treys en route to his game-high 12 points to lead Team Lihue A to a 36-12 win over Team Lihue B in the nightcap.
Following Navarro, Iverson Corpuz and Jim Ehia each had six points, Shawn Rapacon and Rigo Flores netted four points with pairs from Toshi Cox and Sunny Bastian rounding out the victory.
Michael Questin led the Team Lihue B scoring on eight points, including one third-period three-ball with Callum Meredith coming up with three final-period points.
