KILAUEA – The Department of Water has issued an immediate water conservation request for Kilauea until further notice, due to an electrical power outage that has affected the area’s deep well site.
Residents and businesses located from Waipake to Kalihiwai Ridge are asked to limit water consumption to essential uses only, while DOW’s and Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative’s personnel troubleshoot the problem.
Essential water needs includes cooking, bathing and toilet flushing.
Water conservation measures include refraining from car washing, reducing outdoor irrigation, and using water wisely indoors and outdoors.
