Our warm and grateful thanks to all the volunteers who made last Saturday’s St. Michael’s yard and bake sale a possibility.
Mahalo to all the community who came out and bought many of the items in support of our ministries.
The Wilcox Hospital Thrift Shop and Salvation Army Thrift Store also benefited. The items that didn’t sell were donated to them. A win-win-win!

Queen’s Bath not worth the risk
The beautiful picture of 10 people frolicking in Queen’s Bath omitted a few facts about this dangerous place. Tom Barefoot’s Tours in an online article warns that this is a dangerous place and not a recommended spot to visit. They further warn that many people have lost their lives there and the official tally has reached 29 persons. They state this place is “Way off the Charts” dangerous. They further state that by any reasonable standards the statistics of deaths and near drownings at Queen’s Bath qualifies this place as a “slaughter house.” Furthermore, they state, the ratio of cheating death to have a good time in the ocean and on the other side being hauled out of this place lifeless by paramedics is not a worthwhile gamble. Queen’s Bath is not a beach, it is a rock promontory, and at any time a large wave can sweep you into the ocean regardless of the season. It is not worth the risk to swim there. If you are a local or visitor to our beautiful Island please avoid Queen’s Bath and always check the surf warnings before entering the ocean in Kauai.

‘Nightingale’ a treat for kids, adults
“Yes dear Abby, I will take you and your sister to see The Nightingale at your school. I know you want to see your friend Jake and the kids in this show.”
“Uncle, can we have a treat ?
Little did I know that I was about to be to be the one who gets the “treat.”
Parents working the lights, sound, sets moving and let’s not forget the yummies outside and the energy of children yelling waiting to perform in front of their friends and family.
Lights, cameras, action, let the show begin. It did. The magic, the artistic genius and a cast of children that transformed the cafeteria to a stage where children took the audience to China and beyond.
A silly looking bird that looked like it was a reject from a Fruit Loops talent audition tethered to a stick made you use your imagination a little. It was the show’s energy that was wonderful.
The little actors that brought smiles to your heart and happiness to your soul. Bravo! Bravo! Bravo! Fantastic! Kalaheo Elementary Drama Club!

Protect land from dairy farm
OK, the dairy farm is a great idea. Nobody is really questioning that. The question and very important one, “Why do we have to place a dairy in one of the most beautiful spots on Kauai?” I ask the question again. Why did the other dairies close and why are we not using these sites again with the great New Zealand technology. Locals know the history and imports of Mahaulepu and the battle that took place. The dairy farm will be destructive. Grove Farms stated that the studies showed the trade wind will blow toward Waita reservoir (Kauai’s largest fresh water reservoir). Now the question is, “Are there going to be water studies before Waita gets polluted from the dairy farm?
Didn’t we learn from introducing GMO to this island? Maybe being another experiment is not a good thing. I guess the mayor does not live on the south side and does not care, as long as it’s not in his backyard.
Preserve the land before it’s too late! The 2001 Kauai County Council unanimously voted to protect that the land. What changed?
