Clotilde Dumbrique
Clotilde “Tilde” Ancheta Dumbrique of Hanamaulu, Kauai, Hawaii passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on March 11, 2014 at the age of 102. She was born in Laoag City, Philippines on May 31, 1911, and was a dedicated homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Bonifacio and Basilia Ancheta; Husband, Regino Agcaoili Dumbrique; Brothers, Cirilo Ancheta, Bartolome Ancheta, Irineo Ancheta; and Sister, Maxima Mandac.
She is survived by her Daughter, Catalina Bersamira; Son, Amador (Ana) Dumbrique; 8 Grandchildren, Alma Ancheta, John (Jeri) Bersamira, Benjie Sr. (Lucila) Bersamira, Carlito (Marietes) Bersamira, Donna (Jun) Laureta, Joy (Garrett) Hirano, Edna (James) Agpaoa, Yvette Dumbrique (Keith Sunderlin); 11 Great Grandchildren, Cliff Bersamira, Lester (Ria) Ancheta, Marichu Ancheta (Grant Jay Miguel), Benjie Bersamira, Jr., Maricar Bersamira, Mary Kate Laureta, Benzelle Bersamira, BJ Tristan Bersamira, Caitlin Hirano, Colt Hirano, Collin Hirano; 4 Great Great Grandchildren Brian Ancheta, Chrisjan Ancheta, Rheeian Miguel, Ryzen Ancheta; Brother in law, Guillermo (Vicenta) Dumbrique, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8:00 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Lihue Cemetary.

Lucille Hill
Lucille Hill of Omao, Koloa passed away on April 1, 2014 at Kauai Care Center at the age of 92. Born on March 23, 1922 in Salt Lake City, Utah, she was a homemaker and an artist.
She is survived by her son David S. Hill of Hacienda Heights, CA; daughter Judy (Melvin) Sanehira of Omao, Koloa; three grandchildren, Monica Julia (Steven) Farrell, Alisha Omega (Bryan) Loar, and Gabrielle Leilani Sanehira; five great-grandchildren, Tashjianna Kawaiulani Rodriguez, Kiana Kawai Rodriguez, Anya Kiera Loar, Meila Juliet Loar, and Ailee Simone Loar; and nieces, Jan Perkins, Lois Williams, and Joy Coffin. Numerous friends and caretakers at Kauai Care Center in Waimea and the Adult Day Care, Lihue.
A Celebration of Lucille’s life will be announced at a later date. Family suggests flowers be omitted.

Cherie Lavelle Kalai Logan
Cherie Lavelle Kalai Logan, 48, of Wailua, left us on March 27, 2014 in Oregon. Cherie was born October 15, 1965 in Honolulu to Richard and Jeannie Sheldon, of Wailua. She was the eldest of 5 children. She attended Kapaa Elementary School where she served as Student Body President and also was May Day Queen in the sixth grade. During her childhood, Cherie loved to swim, dance hula and read. Most of her days were spent by the beach. She attended Kapaa High School for a short time before continuing her education at Kamehameha Schools where she graduated with the class of 1983.
Cherie attended Brigham Young University (BYU)-Hawaii and BYU-Provo. She married Lance Logan, of Laie in 1987 and had 4 children. Cherie was a loving and patient mother. She will be remembered as a kind, hard-working woman who always helped others. Cherie was adored by her family, children and many nieces and nephews. We will miss her sweet spirit and cheerful smile.
Cherie is survived by her husband, Lance; her children, Kamalei, Ariane, Lasha and Sequoia; her grandson, Hanalei Wasson; her parents Richard and Jeannie Sheldon; her sisters, Momi Mitchell (Fig), Keala Unutoa (Morris) and Brianne Shiroma (Jerry); her brother Dan Sheldon (Kainoa Pu’u).
Funeral Services will be held on Friday April 18, 2014 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Kapa’a. Viewing will begin at 9:15 a.m. and services to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

James Carter
James “Jim” C. Carter of Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii, Passed away on April 3, 2014 at the age of 82.
Born on April 28, 1931 in Tucson, Arizona. He was an engineer with Varian Associates also a project manager and developer of Clinac Radiation Machine.
Preceded in death by his son, Michael Vaughn.
He is survived by his wife, Raeanna Carter, Lihue; daughter, Carrie (Steve) Clark, Arizona; sons, Bill Carter, Arizona; Chris (Jennifer) Carter, Georgia; brothers, Bill (Michelle) Carter, California
Grayson (Kathryn) Carter, Arizona; Clay Carter, California, 12 grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday April 26, 2014 at the Lihue United Church. Visitation at 9:30 a.m., Service at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Hanapepe Veterans Cemetery.
Donations can be made to Lihue United Church.

Benehakaka Kanahele-Kaiwi
Benehakaka Kanahele-Kaiwi II passed away on April 6, 2014 at home at the age of 67. He was born on August 25, 1946 in Pu’uwai, Niihau. An avid fisherman and diver, he loved being outdoors, among friends and laughing with his family. He was a Heavy Equipment Operator, Maintenance Worker for Raytheon at PMRF and a retired Deckhand with Hawaiian Tug and Barge; Inland Boatmen’s Union (IBU).
He is preceded in death by his parents Michael Naluluolehua Kaiwi and Emalia Waiopuna Kaiwi. Brother’s, Kalawelo Kaiwi, Allen Kaiwi; Sisters, Mary Kanahele, Rose Kanahele and Salala Kaiwi.
He is survived by his Sons, Bruce (Stephanie) Kaiwi, Ben Kaiwi; Daughters, Barbara Kaiwi, Benetta Kaiwi; 6 Grandchildren, Ethan Kaiwi, Rigo Ceron-Flores, Bruce Kaiwi Jr., Christina Kaiwi, Solomon Keliihoomalu, Isaiah Keliihoomalu; 3 Brothers, Mike Kaiwi, George Kaiwi, Eugene Kaiwi; 3 Sisters, Emalia Kanahele, Isabella Matayoshi, Myra Silva, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai. Immediately followed by Memorial services at 11:00 a.m. Casual attire is suggested. Inurnment will be at a later date at Kekeha Cemetery.

Charlotte Emmons
Charlotte Krasny Emmons of Puhi passed away at home on April 11, 2014, at the age of 78. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 12, 1935, and retired as a teacher for Early Childhood Education.
Preceded in death by her husband, Richard Emmons.
She is survived one son, Steve Emmons; two daughters, Mindy (Ron Darville) Emmons and Candi Emmons and 3 granddaughters.
No services will be held.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Emmons family with arrangements.
Kay Yoshimatsu
Kay Yoshimatsu of Kapaa passed away on April 4, 2014 at home at the age of 94. She was born on December 4, 1919 in Kapaa, Kauai.
Preceded in death by her husband George Yoshimatsu and daughter Linda Sogawa.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan (Bill) Davies of Placerville, CA and Jill Yoshimatsu of Kapaa, Kauai; one grandchild; sisters, Elnora Wakatake of Honolulu, Takeko Yamane of Kapaa, Ellen Goto of Kaneohe, and Jean Morioka of San Diego; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Services will be held at a later date.

Raymond Henry
In deep sorrow, we announce the death of Raymond Harding Henry, resident of Kalaheo. He died peacefully at home on April 3rd 2014 at the age of 90. Born on August 10th, in Philadelphia, he was a man who brought a smile to all he met.
He is survived by his loving wife Mechtild, son Karl and wife Lynn, daughter Karola and husband Gene Gilbert, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Yoshiko Nishihara
Yoshiko Nishihara of Kaumakani passed away at Kauai Care Center on April 2, 2014, at the age of 92. She was born in Haiku, Maui on August 10, 1921, and retired as a seamstress with Iolani Sports Wear.
Preceded in death by her husband, Zensuke.
She is survived by two sons, Lawrence (Masako) Nishihara, Melvin (Joanne) Nishihara; two daughters, Barbara (Rudy) Kutis, Lynn Nishihara; 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Shigeru, Yoshio, Shikisei and Yasuo Awakuni; one sister, Sadako Roldan; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services will be held. Family requests no Koden.

Gloria Clason
Gloria Clason, 83, of Hilo, Hawaii died March 30, 2014 at the Life Care Center of Hilo. She was born in New York on July 4, 1930. She was a retired head cashier.
She is survived by her 3 Daughters; Gema (Tony) Hensley of Texas; Michelle (Michael) Yaris of Kauai and Lynn (Randall) Nelson of California. 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will take place at a later date.

Laka Morton
Laka Morton, 67, of Volcano, passed away on Saturday March 22, 2014 at Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Honolulu and was a renowned Artist, Historian and Hawaiian rights activist.
He is survived by his hanai sister Leonelle Anderson Akana and many loved ones.

Jocintho Duque
Jocintho Duque of Boston Mass., passed away at the age of 62 on March 26, 2014 at Carney Hospital, Boston. He was a repair technician.
He is survived by his son, Joseph T. Smith, of Boston; daughter, Regina Duque Sanders of California; sisters, Mary Jane (Bernard) Simao, Diana (Darrel) Simao, Linda (Mike) Koerte; brothers, Larry (Sharon) Duque and Derek (Cindy) Reis; 4 grandsons, numerous nieces and nephews.

Gilbert Nobrega Jr.
Gilbert S. Nobrega Jr. of Hanapepe Valley, Kauai formerly of Waimanalo, Oahu, Hawaii.
Passed away on April 7, 2014 at the age of 69, Born on April 20, 1944 in Honolulu, Oahu. He was a County of Kauai refuse driver, United Public Workers Union director.
Preceded in death by his son, Mark Nobrega and sister, Nellie Tanabe.
He is survived by his wife, Rosalyn Nobrega, Hanapepe Valley; son, Gilbert (Babes) Nobrega III, Hanapepe Valley; daughter, Gina Malia (Victor) Nobrega-Olivera, Honolulu and Hanapepe Valley; sisters, Nona Kamai, Palolo; Marilyn (Jarboy) Cabatic, Halawa; Gilberta (Larry) Limasa, Waipahu; Myrna (Marshall) Colbert, Waimanalo; Cherle (Kimo) Kaholokula, Kapaa; brothers, Archie Tanabe, Hilo and Herman Meyer. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces , nephews, cousins, friends, and `ohana.
