Congratulations to Chef Mark Oyama and Matt Takata on another sold out great Culinary Institute of the Pacific Gourmet Spring Gala!
Conrad Nonaka (remember him from the old Mike’s Cafe?) of the Culinary Institute said besides the trip back home, he enjoys the Kauai event because it is so unique.
Wanda Kau Shibata of the Friends of Kauai Community College said it’s one of the best (Chef Mark said it was sold out within two weeks!) culinary events on the island.
Dirk Soma and Randy Francisco represented the Chambers of Commerce (was that Caroline Manera Texeira going in through the back?) on the island, and Dirk was thrilled to be serving next to Chef Kenny Lum who Dirk said was one of his students.
Emcee Jason Fujinaka was working to find the range of the wireless mic, and Chef Mark had time to show off the aeroponics setup which he said was made operational just before the event.
Kudos to Charlene Navarro (the Key Club turns over the Aloha Garden to the Boys & Girls Club, soon), Leah Aiwohi and Kui Souza for all their student helpers!
