LIHUE — Happy birthday Bella Roberts!
Ron Wiley, KQNG Radio Group on-air personality, extended the deadline for his quarter drive until Bella’s birthday this weekend.
Bella and Judy Breyer have no fingernails left after rolling all the quarters pouring into the KQNG offices for the drive to celebrate Wiley’s 25th anniversary of being on the air at KQNG Radio.
Initiated several weeks ago, Wiley got his first quarter from Chantal Zarbaugh of the Kauai Chamber of Commerce.
“Folks know I’ve been celebrating my 25 years on Kauai on KQNG radio as of April 1,” Wiley said. “Six days a week on KQNG FM 93.5 for a quarter of a century. In honor of the quarter of a century, I am collecting quarters for the Kauai Independent Food Bank who has served Kauai for more than 20 years.”
With a goal of a hundred pounds of quarters, the April 1 deadline was quickly approaching, along with the quarters which kept flowing into the KQNG offices.
“I am about 25 pounds light of the goal and could use the help of Kauai folks,” Wiley said. “I am offering a new KQNG T-shirt (designed by Denise Roberts) for a donation of a roll of quarters ($10), or more, while supplies last.”
The shirt is a new creation and is one of the items added as incentives, along with some CDs from Darryl Gonzales for the drive.
“Mahalo for helping me celebrate my quarter of a century on KQNG FM 93.5, and for helping out the Kauai Independent Food Bank,” the morning on-air personality said. “I’ll keep the quarter drive for KIFB going as long as the ‘KONG ronwiley’s Got Your Back for 25 Years’ shirts last, or at least until Bella’s birthday.”
