A program that includes readings of favorite poems, musical interludes and an open mic reading by sign-up prior to the event is planned from 7 to 9 p.m. as a Kauai celebration of April as National Poetry Month.
Dawn Kawahara, poet and author of “Behold Kauai, Modern Days-Ancient Ways,” will emcee the program. Other poets signed to present their original works to date are Susan Campbell, Michaella Mintcheff, Helen Sina and Lisa Wilson.
Mark Jeffers, director of StoryBook Theatre, will make an appearance as Robert Louis Stevenson and present favorite Stevenson poems.
People who would like to participate in the programmed reading may call Kawahara at (808) 822-3271 by noon Friday to sign up in advance. The program will be outdoors in the Spark M. Matsunaga International Garden for Peace. A tea and coffee bar will be available.
