Island School athletic director Kaipo Kealalio lost little time taking advantage of The Sports Authority opening on Friday. He left the store with a wagonload of merchandise after “scoping out the place” Thursday during the VIP event.
Angel Camarillo was working, but said she would still be able to make the Kauai Community College graduation. She said people should see her to fill out their Sports Authority Loyalty Card which gives back to the shoppers in the form of gift cards.

Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. was overwhelmed by the fact we have a Sports Authority on Kauai, and Kauai County Council Chair Jay Furfaro was enjoying the blessing of Pier 1 Imports following the long and grueling budget hearings.
Carol Manera Texeira was at the start of a long weekend, and Chantal Zarbaugh was off to Oahu, missing out on the blessing, but coming back in time for the Kauai Chamber of Commerce golf tournament Sunday.
