Earl Edwards
Earl George Edwards of Niumalu, Kauai passed away on April 14, 2014 at home at the age of 73. Born on August 14, 1940, in Beverly Hills, California. He was a graduate of Roosevelt High School on Oahu class of 1958. He was an Aeronautical Engineer by trade but his passion was building boats.
He is survived by Jacqueline Jaye Gardner and son Tim Edwards.
He was buried in Woodbine Cemetery in Puyallup, Washington on April 22, close to his mother and other family members.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014, 2 p.m. at his yard in Niumalu. 2500 Niumalu Road.
Crystal Wolshin
Crystal Kiele Wolshin of Kapaa passed away in Garden Isle Health Care on May 5, 2014, at the age of 26. She was born in Lihue, Kauai on October 3, 1987, and her mission in life was loving God and living Aloha; to know Him and make Him known. She was a member of Kapaa Missionary Church.
She is survived by her father, Steve Wolshin; mother, Rhonda Borntrager; sister, Kandace Moana Wolshin; maternal grandmother, Wanda Rose; numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Hanalei Bay near the pier from 1:00 p.m. paddle out at 4:00 p.m. Potluck and loose flowers appreciated.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Wolshin family with arrangements.
Geraldine Medeiros
Geraldine Baptiste Medeiros of Lihue passed away at home on April 22, 2014, at the age of 87. She was born in Hilo, Hawaii on January 24, 1927, and retired as Manager of Greeters of Hawaii gift shop at Lihue airport.
Preceded in death by her husband, Antone Medeiros.
She is survived by three sons, Timothy (Dianna) Medeiros, Claude (Lucinda) Medeiros, Kurt (Tamra) Medeiros; one daughter, Lorna Okamoto; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, numerous siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, May 19, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Church with visitation from 9:00 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m.

Jennifer Tumbaga
Jennifer Maria Tumbaga, of Kekaha and Milwaukee, Wisc., passed away in her sleep at the age of 38. Born May 7, 1975 in Milwaukee, Wisc., she attended Kekaha Elementary and Waimea High School and graduated in 1992.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Lorraine and Raymond Krauss, Milwaukee, Wisc., and Maria and Daniel Tumbaga, Kekaha.
She is survived by her mom Lois Ann Krauss, Shorewood, Wisc., and Myrna and Job Tumbaga, Kekaha; sisters, Jenna (Raymond) Tumbaga-Do and Joanna Tumbaga, Honolulu and Jobyna (Ikaika Efhan) Tumbaga, Kekaha; Makoa Tumbaga-Efhan and Tina Garcia.
A Memorial service was held on January 18, 2014 at Feerick Funeral Home, Shorewood, Wisconsin. Private inurnment.
Feerick Funeral Home assisted the Krauss and Tumbaga family.
Elmer Gubaton
Elmer “GUBA” F. Gubaton of Kaumakani, Kauai passed away at Queens Medical Center on May 2, 2014 at age 54. He was born on Dec. 2, 1959 in San Fernando, La Union, Philippines. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, a graduate of Waimea High School, and was employed by Gay and Robinson, then by Paradise Bloom and Landscaping.
Preceded in death by his father, Dominador Gubaton.
He is survived by his wife Lisa Gubaton of Kauai, daughter Latisha Gubaton of California, and step-sons Kylen Chinen of Kauai and Tyler Chinen of Texas; mother Florita Gubaton of Kauai, brothers, Danilo (Yolanda) Gubaton of California and Cesar (Frozerfina) Gubaton of California, and sisters, Virgie Pascua of Kauai, Alicia Rivera of Kauai, and Marie (Greg) Paiste of Kauai. Also surviving are numerous cousins, nephews and nieces, and great nephews and nieces.
Celebration of Guba’s life will be held on Friday May 16, 2014 at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai, with visitation from 9:00 am and services at 11:00 am. Burial to follow at Kauai Vetarans Cemetery. Flowers are welcome.

Dennis Farias
Dennis LeRoy Farias of Lihu’e passed away in Wilcox Memorial Hospital on April 24, 2014, at the age of 73. He was born in Lihu’e, Kaua’i on June 20, 1940, and was previously employed by Dairy Queen, Subway and Big Save.
Preceded in death by his parents, Frank Farias Sr. and Ida Koerte Farias; brother, Stanley Farias.
He is survived by two brothers, Frank Farias Jr. of Lihu’e, Antone (Celeste) Farias Sr. of Puhi; one sister, Marie Dar of Kapa’a; aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services will be held at a later date.
Kaua’i Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Farias family with arrangements.
Hitoe Itakura
Hitoe Itakura of Kalaheo passed away on April 11, 2014 at Kauai Care Center at the age of 84. She was born on Kauai and retired as a teller at First Hawaiian Bank-Eleele Branch.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Saburo Itakura, parents, Eiji and Oyasu Inouye, brothers, Masato (Betty) Inouye, Manabu Inouye, Tamotsu Inouye, sisters, Akie (Kenso) Kinoshita and Akie (Hatsuo) Tsubakihara.
She is survived by her son, Miles Itakura of Kauai, brothers, Yoshio Inouye of Kauai and Kunio Inouye of Oahu, sister, Futae Suzuki of Oahu, 1 granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private Services were held. The family requests no koden or flowers.
